Tom Cruise is in the mood for giving marriage advice. In a pre-taped interview on Monday's "The Hills: Live After Show", the actor gave Spencer Pratt the advice to give Heidi Montag a big wedding with her family if that’s what she wants.

Cruise told Pratt, who eloped to Mexico with Heidi Montag on November 20, that he’d better listen to what his female partner wishes and that a special occasion such as a wedding ceremony is a must.

“She'll remember it forever. Spencer, dude, you'll realize this later," Cruise told hosts Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy.

In response, Pratt told UsMagazine.com that he doesn’t quite dig big wedding ceremonies, but if Tom Cruise accepts to be his best man (yeah right…), he and Heidi will have a big wedding.

Tom Cruise, a three-time Academy Awards nominee and three-time Golden Globe Awards winner, was booked on MTV Canada's “The After Show” to promote his upcoming movie “Valkyrie.”

Cruise’s advice for Pratt comes just a few days after Heidi Montag’s mother, Darlene Egelhoff, said that she doesn’t care much for her daughter’s new partner. She said she doesn’t give Heidi’s marriage much chance and called it the biggest mistake of her daughter’s life. She described Spencer Pratt as “manipulative” and said that he “seems to have power over Heidi."

Egelhoff was frustrated with the fact that Heidi and Pratt chose not to have Thanksgiving with her family and instead went in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the site of her Nov. 20 elopement. She accused Pratt of trying to cut everyone from Heidi’s life.
