Tom Cruise is temporarily moving to New York together with
his daughter and wife, as Katie Holmes gets ready for her debut on Broadway in “All
My Sons” this fall.
"She and Tom are committed to keeping the family
together, so they have to get an apartment here," play producer Eric
Falkenstein told the New York Post.
Holmes will star in the Arthur Miller play along with John
Lithgow and Patrick Wilson. She will play Ann Deever, a woman whose pilot
boyfriend goes missing during World War II. “A simple, sweet, average
Midwesterner,” Falkenstein described Ann, also expressing his admiration for
Katie’s character which he considers perfectly suitable for the role. “Katie's
not really a celebrity type,” he thinks. “She's done brilliant work in films
like Pieces of April and The Ice Storm.”
The producer said Holmes was a “natural sweetheart who can
sniff out phonies.” He told the New York Post that it took him four months to
convince Holmes star in the play, due to logistics issues.
Rehearsals on the play begin this summer and the opening is
scheduled in October.
The play will run for about 16 weeks and the New York Post
informed that there would not be an increase in the ticket price, even though
Holmes is famous and popular. Tom Cruise’s wife will be on stage six days a
week when the play debuts.
Victoria Beckham, who is a close friend of Holmes, recently
told US magazine.com that she thought Katie was “incredibly talented” and she was
“proud of her to be doing this play.”
