Sunday, a 25-year-old young man drove in an intersection
in the Akihabara district of Tokyo, killing about 7 people and injuring several
other persons.
According to BBC, Tomohiro Kato, from Susuno, a town about
100km (60 miles) from Tokyo, drove a white van into an intersection full of
people, knocking down several of them.
The police said that, according to witnesses, the man got
out of the car and started to stab pedestrians.
The attacker told the police that he came there to “kill
people,” stabbing passers-by randomly, reported Reuters. Tomohiro Kato said he was tired of the world and didn't care who was going to be killed.
Authorities informed that at least 12 people have been
wounded and 7 killed: six men with the age between 19 and 74 and a 21-year-old
woman.
Police arrested the attacker while the medical staff was
taking care of the injured.
The Akihabara district has many electronics stores. On
Sunday, the area is closed to traffic and pedestrians fill the district.
Seven years ago, a janitor from a Japanese primary school
killed eight children with a knife. In 2004 he was executed. In January, a 16-year-old boy attacked 5 people, also with a knife, and injured two of them. In March, a man at a railway station injured 8 people
with a knife, reported BBC.
