To Be An Alien Is Not That Bad

There are some times when being an ‘alien’ makes you just want to hide and make your way out of high-school. There are other times, though, when having around you another alien makes your life an exquisite experience.

When you feel like an outsider among all your cool school-mates, you are the eighth nominee on the school list of the “10 Most Bangable Chicks” and are the target of bullies, plus a family life that isn’t more comforting, a foreign exchange student may be a good idea to alleviate your condition. But not for Justin Tolchok (Dan Byrd), whose new friend is nothing more popular than him.

Raja (Adhir Kalyan) is a Muslim Pakistani who is not cool or a socialite, but proves to be a genuine friend with whom he can talk whatever he wants, without fearing about being laughed at. Although Raja augments ruthless homophobic talk about the two and makes Justin’s social situation even more difficult, their story is funny and charms with its new, but still decent perspectives.

The series tackle other issues than the usual teenage matters and it goes further than the stereotypes adolescents judge the world around them. “Aliens in America” stands the chance, at least at the first look, to become a reference for youngsters and to do more than just to amuse them with the good jokes that it surely has spread all around.

The premiere is scheduled for tonight at 8:30, on Ch. 56.
