Saturday Night Live definitely became the best place where viewers can entertain themselves with parodies on the 2008 election. Tina Fey was back on Saturday Night Live as Governor Sarah Palin in a skit of this past weeks’ Vice Presidential debate. The main target of the skit was her arguing with Joe Biden.
During her debate with Joe Biden, her Democratic rival, Palin had provided perfect new material for Fey by winking at the audience and using colloquialisms such as “doggone it” and “you betcha!”
In the Saturday Night ''debate,'' Fey playing Palin used everything Palin had done in the debate while thanking America for letting her speak freely without a media filter that asked tricky follow up questions and waited for her to use trivial words. She also played a flute during her self-declared ''talent portion'' of the debate, and said that ''marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers."
Fey was repeating the key points of her running mate, Sen. John McCain, over and over again and ignored questions that called for more specific answers.
Biden was played by Jason Sudeikis and Queen Latifah played the part of moderator Gwen Ifill.
As far as opinions about the skit are concerned, Palin's sister, Heather Bruce, admitted for The Insider in a two-part interview that Tina Fay was "Dead on…Tina does a great job. Maybe (she) goes a little bit overboard with the sarcastic expressions, but I know that's Hollywood."
On the other hand, Bruce couldn't watch Katie Couric imitating her sister, but thought Sarah had done a great job debating Joe Biden. And everybody seems to agree.
