British actress Kate Beckinsale has reportedly asked to have a body double for a nude shower scene in her upcoming film “Whiteout,” because she is too self-conscious about the shape and size of her bottom.
As Kate Beckinsale apparently “loathes” her derriere, she has asked that a body double film a shower scene in “Whiteout,” the film she is currently working on, reports Britain’s Daily Mail.
In order to still have the scene in the film, producers are reportedly paying $2,000-a-day for a nude stand-in. this was apparently a bit of a surprise, as according to the Mail a last-minute call for a double went out on a Hollywood casting website last week.
An on-set source told the paper that Beckinsale, 34, has a “terrible” self-image and that she is afraid she is “fat” or that certain outfits “make her bottom look big.”
Beckinsale suffered anorexia in the past and she has been quite candid about her struggle with the eating disorder and the childhood and adolescence troubled that led to this.
She has also said that the Hollywood ideal is just an ideal: “I don’t think you can aspire to it and nor can I.”
In “Whiteout,” a film adaptation of the 1999 comic book of the same name by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber, Beckinsale portrays a U.S. marshal, Carrie Stetko, assigned to Antarctica, where she must investigate a murder. She stars opposite Gabriel Macht.
Dominic Sena is directing. “Whiteout” is slated to be released in October 2008.
The closest Beckinsale has come to doing a nude scene is a teasing scene in 1994’s “Uncovered,” where the camera shows a towel slightly drop off her bottom…. very slightly.
Beckinsale is best known for her roles in “Pearl Harbor,” “Underworld” and “Click.”
