Time To Say Goodbye To Gilmore Girls

Sadly, CW and Warner Bros. TV released a statement recently breaking the news about ending one of the most popular series out there, “Gilmore Girls,” after seven seasons of airing.

The show will come to an end on May 15, after rumors were it would reach a 13 episode- eighth season.

"Announcing the final season [of Gilmore Girls] is truly a sad moment for everyone at the CW and Warner Bros. Television,” the statement read.

"This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters,” it read.

"We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino, Dave Rosenthal, the amazing cast led by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as well as the producers, writers and crew for giving us this delightful gem for the past seven years. We would also like to thank the critics and Gilmore fans for their passionate support and promise to give this series the sendoff it deserves."

Apparently, the negotiations between the network, who wanted another season, and the two main characters, Lauren Graham (mother Lorelai Gilmore) and Alexis Bledel (daughter Rory Gilmore), weren’t successful.

Last summer in Pasadena, Graham unequivocally set her conditions for going on.

"The thing I've always talked about is I don't want to be in a situation where I feel sorry for me, you know," she told TV critics.

"Because I've seen that happen to actors and to shows where the thing is done. It's done. Let it be over, you know."

The show’s ratings were not satisfying either, ever since the show’s creator, Sherman-Palladino, left because of a contract dispute, fans haven’t paid the same interest in Lorelai Gilmore’s adventures nor the show’s rapid-fire dialogues.

While David S. Rosenthal, an executive producer who took over after Palladino’s departure, gave the show a decent course, his creations received mixed reviews.
