TiVo’s goal and company policy is to offer unlimited media through the use of a single device, equipped with an easy to use interface. Recently, TiVo has been living up to this statement as its deals with CinemaNow and Jamal have finally proven their worth as hundreds new movies will be available through TiVo, most of them coming from Disney Studios.
Films can be rented for prices varying between $1.99 and $4.99 for a 24 hour rent or a whole week and in some cases even bought, depending on the price settled by the content owner.
TiVo has been delivering movies through the internet for a while and because of the fact that it has a partnership with Amazon Video on Demand makes TiVo benefit from a large library of video content. And with the new CinemaNow and Jamal contracts, TiVo is expanding even further, increasing its library with hundreds of new titles. Though TiVo users will get through CinemaNow only movies produced by Disney, the combination Amazon CinemaNow makes TiVo give access to their users to all the major film studios.
TiVo has been trying to demonstrate lately that it’s not just a recorder of TV show, but a source of video content that can be accessed easily and reliably.
The deal TiVo has cut with Jamal will allow users to download video content from Jamal, like they do with Amazon video on Demand, directly on to their hard drive. The downloaded content will appear on the screen very similar to how recorded shows are displayed on the screen.
