Three stars join Justin Bruening in NBC’s Remake of “Knight Rider”

After NBC revealed at the beginning of November the return on the big screen of the 80’s series “Knight Rider,” now they are also making public the three main actors who will star the movie.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Justin Bruening had already been contacted by the NBC at that time, to play the lead role, being Michael Knight’s son played by David Hasselhoff in 1982-1986.

Bruce Davison (CBS’ "Close to Home"), Wayne Kasserman(Spike’s "The Kill Point") and Greg Ellis("Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End," "Beowulf") will co-star in the two hour movie “Knight Rider.”

Tracer is recruited by his childhood best friend, Sarah Graiman (Deanna Russo) and her eccentric physicist father, Charles (Davison) to join the Knight Foundation, a group devoted to counteracting and preventing the damage done by private, covert military contractors.

Charles is the one creating the second-generation K.I.T.T., an artificially intelligent car designed to assist Tracer in his missions, which a shady millionaire tries to steal.

Ellis will pay one of the villains. Kasserman plays Dylan, Mike's loyal roommate, friend and race car mechanic who joins the Knight Rider team.

The movie is inspired by the success story of Michael Bay’s movie “Transformers” whose main stars are transforming cars into having good or evil intentions. According to Variety, there is a chance that in addition to Knight’s talking car, there will also appear evil cars that Knight and his K.I.I.T. will have to fight with. The theme remains the same as in the old series of the movie, only the special effects will know a significant improvement.

Steve Shill also known for making “Dexter,” “The Tudors,” “Rome” and “Deadwood,” directs the movie, which is planned to appear on next spring.

Produced by “Bourne Identity” director Doug Liman who also directed “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Knight Rider” movie is NBC’s back door pilot for another series scheduled to air by the next fall, if the ratings turn to be good.
