Familiar actor such as Rachel Nichols, recently seen in the horror film “P2” for  Summit Entertainment, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (“Lost”) and Said Taghmaoui (“The Kite Runner”) seem to be joining Sienna Miller and Ray Park in the live-action movie, “G.I. Joe,” the Hollywood Reporter wrote.

The movie, based on the well-known military doll and its comic book and cartoon series spin-offs, will be directed by Stephen Sommers and is planned to be released in August 2009 via Paramount Pictures.

Besides Sommers, names like Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bob Ducsay are producing the movie.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nichols will play Scarlett, a skilled martial artist who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, Akkinnuoye-Agbaje will be playing Heavy Duty and Taghmaoui will play Breaker, the team’s communications specialist.

Nichols is also known from “The Amityville Horror,” a movie that was released in 2005 and from television appearance on ABC’s “Alias.” The actress is repped by Endeavor, Management 360 and Rick Genow.

Akinuoye-Agbaje is also known for starring in “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” and “The Born Identity,” while Taghmaoui is expected to appear in the upcoming dramas “Traitor” and “Vantage Point.”

Following a script by Stuart Beattie, the film will be set in Brussels.
