Familiar actor such as Rachel Nichols, recently seen in the
horror film “P2” for Summit
Entertainment, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (“Lost”) and Said Taghmaoui (“The Kite
Runner”) seem to be joining Sienna Miller and Ray Park in the live-action
movie, “G.I. Joe,” the Hollywood Reporter wrote.
The movie, based on the well-known military doll and its comic
book and cartoon series spin-offs, will be directed by Stephen Sommers and is
planned to be released in August 2009 via Paramount Pictures.
Besides Sommers, names like Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Hasbro’s
Brian Goldner and Bob Ducsay are producing the movie.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nichols will play
Scarlett, a skilled martial artist who specializes in hand-to-hand combat,
Akkinnuoye-Agbaje will be playing Heavy Duty and Taghmaoui will play Breaker,
the team’s communications specialist.
Nichols is also known from “The Amityville Horror,” a movie
that was released in 2005 and from television appearance on ABC’s “Alias.” The
actress is repped by Endeavor, Management 360 and Rick Genow.
Akinuoye-Agbaje is also known for starring in “Get Rich or
Die Tryin’” and “The Born Identity,” while Taghmaoui is expected to appear in
the upcoming dramas “Traitor” and “Vantage Point.”
Following a script by Stuart Beattie, the film will be set
in Brussels.
