The police investigating the case of the killing of five women in a Tinley Park clothing store, forgot to talk about a major “detail” in their statement regarding the murders: there was a sixth woman at the scene of the killings and she survived.
The sixth victim was a female employee of the store and she suffered a graze wound to the neck. The killer thought she was dead, but she managed to make the 911 call during the attack, the sources said.
The woman played an essential part in making the sketch of the gunman by providing police with his description.
The Tinley Park police were very tight-lipped about the details of the case they labeled as a "robbery gone bad." However, the police released Sunday the names of the five women killed, but they did not officially say that there was a sixth victim.
"This incident appears to stem from an armed robbery attempt which was interrupted which led to the five murders," Tinley Park Police Chief Michael O'Connell said.
The Police are now looking for an African-American man about 5 feet 9 and 260 pounds. During the attack he was dressed in black clothing.
One of the victims, Connie R. Woolfolk, was shot in the head, but that information wasn’t provided by the police, who were very discreet about the case. This detail was released by Eric Woolfolk, who identified the body of his sister. Connie had her hands tied behind her back and that led her brother to believe that the killer might have tortured her.
"He couldn't possibly have thought that [store] would be a good place to rob. This person is obviously a sick person," Eric Woolfolk said for the Chicago Tribune.
The killer took only about $200 in cash and some valuables.
