The application development frenzy Apple's App Store has generated, has brought some app makers a lot of headaches along with the paycheck or even instead of it.
Noah Witherspoon, Atlanta college student, made the decision to withdraw his iPhone game called Tris after having been informed by Apple that the Tetris Company has started talks about copyright and trademark infringement with regard to his creation.
The young man posted a statement in his blog which said he had decided not to go to court and starting with Wednesday, the game would no longer be available. He added that, as he is only a college student, right now he does not have the time, energy and resources to begin such a fight.
Although he feels the Tetris Company could not actually build a case against him, for the time being, there is nothing he can do. However, he ended the post saying that when he finds the time and also a good copyright lawyer, he will take a closer look at the situation and see whether or not Tris will be able to make a come-back.
This was not the first and will most definitely not be the last problem with the App Store; so far several apps have been removed by Apple for a wide range of reasons. Copyright and trademark infringement claims however are never taken lightly by companies, as they can cause substantial financial losses.
