The World is Too Small To Fit Both Fey And Palin

Not only did Tina Fey put a spin on every tiny mistake the GOP vice presidential candidate ever made in her speeches and managed to impersonate her “spot on,” but she  also repeatedly made a point of saying that she realy-realy dislikes Sarah Palin.

The former SNL comedian, who now comes only as a special guest to the show, has made several public statements where she says she doesn’t want to play the Republican candidate for much longer. “I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5,” she said, making it clear that until then, the comedic bits featuring the Alaska Governor will be more ruthless, thus funnier than before.

Her latest burst of anti-palianism is featured in the issue of TV Guide due to appear October 27th on newsstands across the country. First she talks about how much of an inspiration Palin is to her, and what a great characters she is to play, from the professional point of view, of course.

"Election time is always good for SNL and this is a bonkers election. And that lady is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she’s very likeable. She’s fun to play, and the two bits with Amy Poehler, that was super fun," Fey says.

But the former SNL regular makes it pretty clear that she wants to keep guest appearing on the show, until the elections, rather than getting a permanent spot as the impersonator of the vice president of the U.S.A., so she keeps her fingers crossed against Sarah Palin’s win. She obviously is neither into “maverick teams,” nor into Joe-six-packer and hokey moms.

And she is terrified when thinking that the Republican candidate is so close to the to the White House, that there are still chances the square glasses and that highlighted wig, which make the resemblance even more obvious, to still rock every episode of Saturday Night Live for at least four years. "We’re gonna take it week by week. If she wins, I’m done. I can’t do that for four years. And by ‘I’m done,’ I mean I’m leaving Earth."

It might seem a little too radical, but when you come to think about how many of the SNL lines were actual transcripts from Palin’s  real interviews, it suddenly becomes kind of scary and disturbing. It’s like you found a new respect for the comedian, keeping her in your prayers and hoping she doesn’t have to leave the planet anyway.

Fey managed to crack everybody up with her brilliant impersonation, ever since that first skit on SNL season premiere, starring Sarah Palin and a classic Poehler playing Hillary Clinton. The Alaska governor herself reportedly admitted back-then she watched the skit on mute, but really enjoyed it.
