After Larry
Rudolph, a spokesperson for Britney Spears’ manager, denied the rumors about Britney
making an on-stage appearance at MTV’s Video Music Awards this year, MTV.com announced
today that the singer would actually be opening the show.
Moreover,
Britney herself stated she was extremely excited about this, suggesting that
she would not have missed the 25th edition of the Awards for
anything in the world.
Nevertheless,
when it comes to what she will be doing to kick off the VMAs, everything’s a
blur. Neither MTV.com nor Spears has revealed any information about this. But
one thing is sure: it will be something to remember. And probably to top both
performing with a snake and kissing Madonna on the lips.
Britney
Spears, 26, released her debut album called “Baby One More Time”in 1999. Its
huge success brought the singer international recognition and also earned her
the pop icon status. She continued by releasing three other number one albums, “Oops!... I Did It Again” in 2000, „Britney” in 2001 and „In the Zone” in 2003.
During the past few
years, her tumultuous personal life has stolen her singing career’s thunder, the
only news about Britney concerning her marriage to Kevin Federline in 2004, the
couple’s divorce two years later, their custody battle and, most recently, the
singer’s mental problems.
Still, she seems to
be recovering pretty well after having received psychiatric help this year.
So let the show
begin. 'Cause everybody’s holding their breath to see how Britney’s going to
break the ice.
