Ten years of the wackiest family on TV has payed off, well, for the 10th time. The world-famous cartoon series was awarded another Creative Arts Emmy and declared best half-hour animated show, yet another time in 19 years of airing on FOX during primetime. Some argue that “South Park” deserved the award, but Cartman &Co. didn’t go home empty handed anyway, as they received a prize for their three-part Imaginationland episode.
The show has already become part of the pop culture and served as inspiration to many others. Not only did Homer, Marge, Bart Lisa and Maggie set trends and received tons of prizes, but they also managed to do something no cartoon has done before. Thanks to the lazy bald guy Homer Simpson we now have a new word in the dictionary: D’Oh! (annoyed grunt) . I bet everybody’s thankful for that.
The little Emmy was awarded at a ceremony before the main Emmy Awards on 21st of September. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards also honors achievements in categories like makeup, costumes, sound editing and art direction.
There were other records set in the ceremony to be aired on Saturday, September 20 on E! HBO miniseries, ”John Adams” starring Paul Giamatti, took home a record 8 statuettes out of 23 nominations. The awards included cinematography, casting, costumes, editing, and prosthetic makeup.
Former star of “Sex and the City,” Cynthia Nixon also received an award for Best Guest Actress in a Drama for her work on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, while the same award for an actor went to Glynn Turman, for his role on In Treatment.
