“The Shield” has had its flaws, but the FX series’ grand
finale is said to be almost perfect. It’s only a matter of time before we find
out whether Vic Mackey gets what he deserves or manages to get away with his crimes
yet again.
His original sin has haunted every moment of the show, whose
90-minute finale is scheduled to air on Tuesday at 10 ET/PT, and was followed
by a rush of several other criminal actions made by the anti-hero’s callous
strike team.
The landmark television cop, impersonated by Michael
Chiklis, shocked audiences from the series’ very first episode, in which Vic
Mackey shot to death a fellow officer, but gathered a rather strong and loyal
fan base, who is eager to find out what happens to Vic Mackey, as well as to other
characters, including Ronnie Gardocki (David Rees Snell), Shane Vendrell
(Walton Goggins), Claudette Wyms (CCH Pounder) and David Aceveda (Benito
Martinez).
In spite of the fact that Michael Chiklis and the creator of
“The Shield,” Shawn Ryan, would not reveal further details on Vic Mackey’s
future, it is certain that the characters’ fate will be disclosed, dissimilar
to the conclusion of “The Sopranos,” which shed a dark and mysterious light on
its fictional personas and plots.
Although “The Shield” has added throughout time a lot of
intricate elements and ideas to its storyline, its finale seems to get rid of
the cargo and deliver a straightforward message that either makes justice or
locks the truth forever.
