For those left craving more “Sex and the City” action after last year’s big screen continuation of the popular HBO series, the four leading ladies officially signed up for a sequel.
So the rumors are true, despite the mixed reviews “Sex and the City” movie got, the box office success was enough for the writers, producers and the cast to get back to work on a new film. The highly lucrative chick flick had a $58 million opening weekend and grossed almost $409 million worldwide.
Writer, director and co-producer Michael Patrick King confirmed on Thursday that actress Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the main character Carrie Bradshaw, and her three co-stars, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, have all signed on for another tale of fashion, flings and friendship.
“I'm very excited to work with these amazing actresses again,” King said Thursday, referring to the lady foursome. For now, King couldn’t provide further information on the future adventures of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, because the script is yet to be penned.
“I would love to give everyone more information about the sequel,” he said. “But I'm busy with my 'Sex' life.”
The first SATC movie focused on what was supposed to be Carrie’s happiest day of her life which turned into a highly dramatic event as Mr. Big stood her up at the altar.
During press appearances in London three months ago, Cattrall told reporters she was certain a sequel would happen. “The fans keep saying, 'Yes, one more,'” Cattrall said. “The movie was so much fun to do and be part of again. I hope we're going to do it again.”
