This awards season went on with Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 25, as the actors got accustomed to go on to the stage, get their trophy, give a lot of special thanks and take the trophy home to sit next to the others. One movie usually gets everything because everybody loves it.
Tina Fey, the star of “30 Rock,” for example, was one of the actresses who didn’t only use to collect trophies from the variety of award events she had been invited to, but she also had to make a lot of trips to Hollywood from NBC in New York, where the series are filmed.
Yet, even if some differences between the Golden Globes and the 15 annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have been spotted, the events seemed to look alike, when the same actors, films and TV series won again.
A gala dinner was organized in a trendy ballroom and the event was classy and interesting. Filled with good wishes from all the actors to their colleagues and beautiful acceptance speeches, the Screen Actors Guild Awards mind its manners. Winners full of pride over their work and profession filled the stage enjoying the audience’s applause once again.
This year’s achievement award went to James Earl Jones, showing that above all prizes and trophies, the artists and actors’ work is on the first place. He sent a message full of power just by having been chosen to receive such an award. He was filled with emotion as coming up the scene and the standing ovations clearly moved him.
“Slumdog Millionaire” can’t have enough of so many awards. Being given a trophy once again, the cast began to shout joyfully. Anil Kapoor, the host of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” in the movie, began giving lots of phone calls telling everyone about their success.
Now all that’s left to do is to wait for the Academy Awards on February 22 to see whether anyone gets surprised by the winning actors or movies.
