On September 16, Lynne Spears’ book called "Through the
Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World" is scheduled to
be published by Thomas Nelson.
Lynne, 53, who is
teen-icon Britney Spears’ mother, details in the 211-page novel her daughter’s
pursuit of stardom and fame, from her early years of singing and dancing to her recent struggle with depression and drug-addiction.
In the book, Brit is described as a highly talented,
confident and extrovert girl who had always dreamed of becoming of star, practicing her musical skills to Madonna and Whitney Houston songs from the
tender age of three.
Moreover, Lynne denies having pushed Britney towards a
career in show-business, advocating that she had been nothing more than a
thoughtful, supporting and loving mother who stood by her child’s decision to
become a singer. Nevertheless, she admits to having lost control of her daughter in
1999, when Britney-who at that time, was only seventeen years old-appeared in
the „Rolling Stones” magazine wearing just panties and a bra.
From that moment on, the relationship between the two went
downhill. Until recently, when things started to fall into place for Britney
after having overcome what everybody deemed as a breakdown she would never recover
from: two marriages that ended in divorce, two children for whom she is
currently in a custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline and two visits to
rehab centers.
Britney has yet to read the book but according to her
mother, her younger sister Jamie, 17, who recently gave birth to a baby girl,
loved the book and also thanked Lynne for having written it.
