The world is now facing an economic situation that it’s not easy to overlook. Financially speaking, the world is galloping into a crisis and this was the idea most stressed at the APEC economic summit, held in Lima, Peru. The current president of the United States of America, George W. Bush was present at the summit, but it seems that most of the questions referred to president-elect, Barack Obama, and his plans of economically changing the US. World leaders have focused on the idea that being the president of the United States of America is a big responsibility, and the repercussions of faulty actions do not affect only the US, but also the entire world.

Mexican President, Felipe Calderon, warned Obama about the effects of tightening trade restrictions even more. According, to Calderon this would send a flood of illegal immigrants over the borders, and the situation will get a lot worse.

The summit was held in order to find solutions for the economic crisis the world is witnessing and it seems that the solution is depending very much on how will the following US Administration act. Calderon also declared that the Obama Administration must assume leadership in a very firm manner, as changing the economic path of the US is a very hard thing to accomplish.

An Obama spokeperson, on the other hand, declared that is crucial for the public to know that there can only be one president at a time, and that, currently, George W. Bush is still President of the United States Of America. All in all, the summit clearly showed how daring and how important Obama’s plans are and that changing the economy of the US is an international issue.
