First impressions on the New Xbox Experience, the new software of Microsoft’s Xbox 360, are positive and describe the new software as fresh, simple and extremely fun. It seems that Microsoft has finally realized what Apple discovered so many years ago: simplicity is gold. This is exactly what drives Xbox’s new software, many features, elegantly encrusted in a simple, fun, attractive interface.

The new Xbox software makes Microsoft’s gaming console almost an all purpose device, as it allows users to stream movies from Netflix, play games, create avatars, communicate with other Xbox users and share pictures.

The new Xbox software includes new navigational designs. The Live Experience replaced the old blades with a more user friendly system. The software’s avatar creation feature is very similar to what Nintendo’s Wii is offering with the so called Mii avatars, but what can you expect from avatars?

The feature reaches its goal of personalizing the entire experience a bit, allowing users to chat in special rooms that are capable of simultaneously sustaining 8 players. Here players can chat, exchange pictures and join multiplayer games. The Netflix video streaming feature is by far the most exciting added feature on The New Xbox Experience. With a Netflix account a user can stream directly through the Xbox any movie from a library containing approximately 12, 000 titles.

The Xbox is trying to please both casual and hardcore gamers and also offer a multi-purpose device that can be seen as the future of entertainment. Sony and Nintendo have also made their consoles richer in features, but Microsoft is the only one that managed such a complete makeover in one free update.
