BMW is the kind of car company known for its high quality cars, fondness of speed and comfort and for reliability. Founded in 1916 as an independent German car company, BMW started off by building aircraft engines and after that they went on to building motorcycles.
At present, BMW is highly successful and it is the parent company for the MINI and Rolls-Royce car brands. Recently, BMW announced the new Z4, which will have a solid top retractable roof. This is the first complete make-over the Z4 gets after being launched in 2002. The hardtop retracts or opens completely in 20 seconds and uses a specially designed compartment at the back of the car for storage.
The car still has that aggressive Z4 look, with curvy and aggressive lines, suggesting power and speed. The Z4 is definitely made for speed as its motor has 300 horse power and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds.
The Z4 uses a rear end traction, which makes the car more balanced on the road and makes for better distribution of power. Like most rear-drive cars, the BMW Z4 has a 50-50 weight distribution, which is great when taking curves or when you need to keep the massive power of the engine under control.
The new Z4 will be built in Regensburg, Germany and it will allow buyers to equip the car with an optional navigational system, called iDrive. The BMW Z4 will go on sale in the Us starting from May and it will have a price tag between $40,000 and $50,000.
