According to Universal Music Group the country-rock band The
Eagles are to release their first album in 28 years. Entitled The Long Road
From Eden, the album is scheduled for release in October.
"It's rare to have the opportunity to be involved with
a band of their stature, as they define popular music in so many ways,"
said Lucian Grainge, CEO of Universal Music Group International.
Universal will distribute the new album outside North
America, while in the United
States the record will be released through
Wal-Mart stores and the band's Web site www.eaglesband.com.
The Eagles released their first single "How Long"
from the upcoming album to radio on August 16th. The song has also a
video clips which was premiered on August 17th on Yahoo Music.
The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide,
earning four #1 U.S.
singles and four Grammy Awards. Their
Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is the best-selling album of all time, exceeding sales
of 29 million units. The band's Hotel California and Their Greatest Hits Volume
2 have sold more than 16 and 11 million albums respectively. Eagles were
inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
The Eagles split in 1980 but reunited for live shows in 1994.
Since their reunion they have released occasional singles.
