Theatres are sure to be celebrating kids’ weekend these days, as teens are expected to pack movieplexes thanks to the opening of heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers’ film.
“Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert” is certainly intended to emerge as a must-see flick for teenage girls or even younger audiences that will definitely draw male presences as well.
The Disney release comes after the studio’s great success with “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds,” which debuted last February. The movie opened with an impressive $31.1 million, which surpassed all expectations before grossing approximately $65.3 million overall domestically. Nevertheless, “Hannah Montana” was slowed down by a then-fairly small installed base of 3-D screens, while the Jonas Brothers picture will be exposed in almost 1,300 extradimensional locations, including hundreds of auditoriums playing midnight Thursday showtimes.
In addition, the boyband’s film is scheduled for an extended theatrical release compared to the Cyrus movie, which had been programmed for one-week-only arrangements until huge revenues urged theater owners to request a longer run.
"I don't see the launch as being as frenetic, because people know they have opportunity to see it over the next few weeks," Disney distribution president Chuck Viane said, as quoted by Reuters. "But we know the fan base is big: My granddaughter is making me take her."
Although fans of the three siblings might not hurry during the first few days, they can count on the movie’s extended run.
