The Jacksons Blame It On The Boogie

This year’s BMI Urban Awards ceremony held at the Wilshire Theatre honored the legendary singing brothers that forever changed the face of music, although Michael, the most famous of them all, was not present.

Some say it was for the best, considering that not only did he change the way music was back in the day, but he also changed his own color, making that “It don’t matter if you’re black or white” sound like a truckload of nonsense.

All in all, the Jacksons, formerly known as “The Jackson 5,” received the BMI Icon Award for lifetime achievement. After a tribute performance, their equally talented sister Janet presented Tito, Jackie, Marlon, and Randy, only four of the original 6, as brother Jermaine also pulled a no-show. She was visibly overwhelmed with emotion when she said: "I salute you for your talent and your musical gifts you've given the world. I tell you that every time we speak. I'm so excited to salute you!"

You can only imagine how this otherwise beautiful moment would have been if Michael was also on the stage, accepting the award. No offense for him, for he is still one of the greatest voices in the world, but aside from his career moves, all the other ones were pretty stupid.

Nowdays, we’re really not looking forward to seeing more footage of Michael, although we’re excited about his upcoming album, as his brothers are. Randy told reporters: "It's going to be great." Well of course it is, the man is a genius, but I’ll have the CD with no jacket and no videos, thank you very much!
