The Golden Globe Awards are given annually to those who have contributed heavily to the scene of entertainment. The awards are given annually and after the rather unsuccessful edition of last year, this year the Globes will shine with star power.

 Simon Baker, Drew Barrymore, Pierce Brosnan, Sandra Bullock, Gerard Butler, Glenn Close, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cameron Diaz, Aaron Eckhart, Zac Efron, Laurence Fishburne, Ricky Gervais, Jake Gyllenhaal, Salma Hayek, Jonas Brothers, Jessica Lange, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, Hayden Panettiere, Chris Pine, Amy Poehler, Zachary Quinto, Seth Rogen and Martin Scorsese will be presented at the ceremonies, making a real show for those who like to see stars on their TVs.

Film stars in competition this year are Tom Cruise, Clint Eastwood, Penelope Cruz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Colin Farrell, James Franco, Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke, Javier Bardem, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Robert Downey Jr., Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Among the stars nominated for their TV activity are Steve Carell, Kiefer Sutherland, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Michael C. Hall, Christina Applegate, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Hugh Laurie, America Ferrera, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Piven, Mary-Louise Parker and David Duchovny.

The ceremony will be transmitted on NBC and it will probably manage to gain good ratings this year. Last year’s edition was affected by the writer’s strike, making for no stars to appear at the ceremony. An award giving show without stars is useless, and that showed in the ratings of last year, only 5.8 million viewers on NBC.
