HTC’s new gadget, the G1 mobile phone, was officially released this morning being available for anyone to buy. The G1 is the first cell phone to have as an operating system Google’s Android, which will allow the phone full access to the Internet and will give the user the experience of desktop computer rather than a mobile phone.
The phone is made available on T-Mobile network and has a price tag of only $179, making it a very affordable Smartphone. The G1, like the iPhone, is a touchscreen phone that features a slide out Qwerty keyboard. The 3G phone is expected to upload and download content from the Internet with speeds reaching 1M/s, depending on the connection’s strength and signal.
The phone will be able to run different types of applications which can be bought from a special store made especially for Android based cell phones. Android will provide the user access to all of Google’s functions like, Mail, Google Maps, YouTube and, of course, the G1 is said to be the real iPhone killer. The G1 will be able to connect to the internet using 3G or Wi-Fi making the little gadget extremely useful for anyone who likes being connected with the latest news surrounding the world.
Like the iPhone, there has been some commotion surrounding Google’s announcement of a kill switch that will delete any malicious applications installed on the G1. This announcement was made easier to cope with, unlike in the case of the iPhone, mainly because Google announced the option before the phone was officially launched on the market.
