The FDA opened its first foreign office in Beijing, after a flux of contaminated products reached America, causing a lot of problems. The move is said to not just do something about consumer safety, but also to resolve China’s manufacturing issues directly from the root. A FDA office in China will make things run more smoothly and will serve both the American people and the Chinese.
The FDA is also expected to open offices in the Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Shanghai in the next few days. This is an amazing step taken in state relationships and it’s absolutely extraordinary from a diplomatic point of view. FDA offices in China also prove the relationship between the two countries and how important exchanging products are for them.
This year has seen a lot of contaminated products being shipped to America and this is a strong reason for which the FDA needed to act so drastically. The latest influx of contaminated foods that were exported in the US made for the last drop and the move will definitely serve both countries. The FDA will be inspecting product in alliance with Chinese officials and groups, making the whole thing as diplomatic and as efficient as possible.
Last week the FDA blocked milk product from China, as it was believed that these products contained melamine, a chemical used in the manufacturing of plastic and fertilizer. Other similar situations made the highlights of newspapers in the US, the most serious one being the contaminated heparin case, a blood thinner imported from China that caused the deaths of dozens.
