The Consumer Electronics Show Is Bigger Than Ever

The International Consumer Electronics Show managed to bring under one roof many of the latest breakthroughs when it comes to technology and gadgets. All the companies present are looking to attract as many visitors and publicity as possible and also use the feedback from the presentations to make the needed adjustments.

The CES opened its gates yesterday in Las Vegas, Nevada, where more than 2,700 exhibitors are ready to amaze their visitors. 300 of them are present at the event for the first time.

"The [consumer electronics] industry is resilient but not immune from the business cycle," explained Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), which hosts the CES. He also added that "In this challenging economy, our industry knows that CES is more important than ever to grow business. With each CES attendee holding an average of 12 meetings at our trade show, there is no better strategy for generating leads and jump-starting new business than attending the 2009 International CES." He concluded by saying that in these tough economic times, trade shows should be considered essential for any business and that the CES is the must-attend event of the year for the industry.

More than 130,000 people are expected to show up during the event’s four days. There are scheduled 200 conferences with more than 500 expert speakers. Among the companies present at the show are Microsoft, Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, HP, Kodak, Palm, TomTom, Nokia, Panasonic, Dell, Casio and Asus.
