The Aerosmiths Moved Up To Gaming With Guitar Hero

Game developer Activision Inc. released “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” game on Friday offering the band’s fans the chance to step into the shoes of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. Dozens of them gathered at the Hard Rock Restaurant in Times Square to see the famous five-member band introducing the game and try out the latest Guitar Hero addition.

30 of the band's most famous hits among which find themselves "Love in an Elevator" and "Sweet Emotion", are present in the game and it also includes pieces from various artists Aerosmith performed and collaborated with over the years, such as Run D.M.C.'s "Walk This Way" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You" by Joan Jett. A special feature is a guitar controller emblazoned with the band's red-and-white logo for hard core fans.

Both, the game and guitar controller, for Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360, Sony Corp's PlayStation3 and Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii sell for the price of $99.99, with an additional PlayStation2 version for $89.99. The game is also sold individually for each of the consoles and costs $59.99 and $49.99, respectively.

The purpose of the game is for players to advance through the band's almost 40-year career. Singer Steven Tyler said the process of animating the band was not easy. Game creators "wrapped me in a rubber suit, and I spent seven hours a day for two weeks getting in there with my hands and making this thing be all that Aerosmith is," lead-singer Steven Tyler said explaining the not so easy process of animating.

Players begin as guitarist Joe Perry, but advancing through levels they reach the point when they can also play as guitarist Brad Whitford and Hamilton. The starting point for the band in the game is represented by club gigs, and the peak is reached when they make it to stadium shows.

„Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” is the first game that focuses on a single rock band. The first three versions centered on rock categories that ranged from grunge, classic rock, metal, punk and '80s hits.
