Five people, including a woman and three children, were
found dead in a park near Lavtonsville,
Maryland, between Washington and
Baltimore on Thanksgiving night. According to a statement of the police, they
died in an apparent murder-suicide.
"It looks like it is a domestic-related
homicide-suicide," Montgomery County Police representative Porsha Jones
said, according to the Associated Press.
Montgomery County Police and Maryland-National
Capital Park
police were called to the park around 9:20 p.m., according to Montgomery County
police. Four victims, a woman and three children were found together at the
entrance of the park.
Police would not reveal the ages of the children, two boys
and a girl, but according to their sayings, they had over three years. They
also do not know whether the victims were related or not. This issue will be
revealed by the bodies’ autopsy undertaken at the State Medical Examiner’s
office.
On searching the area, police discovered the body of a man who, apparently, had
died of a self-afflicted gunshot wound, police stated. They also found the gun,
which led to the man’s death.
Authorities blocked off the roads in the tiny community of Unity,
about 35 miles west of Baltimore.
Police in Maryland
are currently investigating the case.
