Teri Hatcher Sued by Betrayed Skin Care Company

“Desperate Housewives” star Teri Hatcher is being sued because she allegedly signed an exclusive deal with skin care company Hydroderm in 2005 and violated the contract when she endorsed a rival firm.

Hydroderm filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court against “Desperate Housewives” star Teri Hatcher over… lip plumper.

The lawsuit alleges Hatcher signed an “exclusive endorsement deal” with Hydroderm in 2005 which saw $2.4 million make their way into her pocket. Hatcher is accused of having breached that contract by promoting other products.

The suit alleges the 42-year-old actress even as far as to pose for pictures applying CityLips lip plumper from City Cosmetics, which happens to be a direct competitor to Hydroderm’s Volumizing Lip Serum.

“Hatcher's name, image and likeness have been linked to so many competitors' products (at least 17!) that it is anyone's guess as to what product keeps her skin and lips youthful,” said the lawsuit.

The lip-plumping actress is requested to return the $2.4 million as well as an additional 400,000 in expenses, all “due immediately.”

The suit specifies Hatcher appeared in promotional materials for CityLips, said she was a “fan” of the product and credited it with “helping her appear beautiful at an awards event.” She even shared the joy with guests at her birthday party, where invitees received CityLips gift bags, reports the Associated Press.

The AP quotes Hatcher's legal representative, Alan Wertheimer, who said in a statement that the allegations are an “unjustified and public assault on Teri Hatcher's good name, reputation and celebrity in a transparent and pathetic effort to distract from its own failure to live up to its end of the agreement.”

“Ms. Hatcher will respond swiftly and decisively by appropriate legal means to recover everything she is owed under her contract, as well as compensatory and punitive damages for Hydroderm's outrageous accusations,” the statement continues.

Wertheimer argued that Hatcher had respected her side of the contract, despite “a frustrating series of changes in the ownership and management of Hydroderm over the last several years.”
