After rumors have circulated for a while, Telltale Games has finally confirmed the planned release of Sam & Max for the Nindendo Wii. Published by Austrian publisher JoWooD in Europe and in the US by Dreamcatcher and The Adventure Company, the game will allegedly be a compilation of the episodes from the series' first season, released in 2006.
Telltale Games has sent screens and videos to several gaming sites. The game will span from pilot episode "Culture Shock" through to "Bright Side of the Moon." The decision to develop the game was due in large part to fan demand, as a while back a massive email campaign has asked the developer to port the game, then released only for the PC, to gaming consoles.
"Now, judgment day is at hand, and it's time for a showdown with the guy downstairs to bargain for Bosco's soul. But, in the corporate wasteland known as Hell, not even Sam & Max are safe from eternal damnation. Can they wiggle free from Satan's grasp, or have they finally reached the end of the line?"
Apparently, other consoles will follow, as Nintendo Wii will just be the first one to receive the port of the PC version.
Sam & Max were created in a 1987 comic book by Steve Purcell. The characters were subsequently adapted for the 1993 computer game Sam & Max Hit the Road, the 1997 cartoon The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police, and then Sam & Max episodic adventure games for Windows PCs.
