A new study showed that it’s old fashion to send love notes anymore. Teenagers and adults aged between 20 and 26 use other kind of ways to flirt or to get someone’s attention. A survey discovered that about a third of these teenagers use their cell phones to get naked pictures of themselves and send them to other people.
Most of them stated that they have sent naked or semi-naked photos to be fun or to flirt with someone. Almost 40% of the adult men and about 30% of teenagers said that they have seen nude images sent to someone else and 40% of teen girls and women said that they had seen the same pictures.
The survey also pointed out that 39% of the teens and 59% of the ones aged between 20 and 26 years old have sent allusive messages. Marisa Nightingale of the non-profit National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, which commissioned the survey with the Hearst Digital Media site CosmoGirl.com, stated that the survey wanted to put some statistics on this issue too.
The Chicago-based market research firm Teenage Research Unlimited tracked 1,280 teens starting September 25 until October 3. Nielsen Mobile also estimated that nearly 80% of the teens aged 13 to 17 and 93% of those aged between 18 and 24 years old use cell phones, most of which have implemented cameras.
According to the same survey, teenagers send photos especially to their boyfriend or girlfriend, but after a breakup, the photos go in some other places too. A 17-year-old high school senior from Fairfax said that she had been the witnesses of such an event when a boy sent a nude picture of his girlfriend to the whole school after the two had broken up.
