Yes, it was a Christmas present from his parents and there was no PlayStation 3 inside the PlayStation 3 box…
The teenager’s parents had spent, according to the receipt, about $500 for the craved gaming rig, but all they got for their money was actually a think phone book. This unfortunate incident happened to a family in Thousand Oaks, California. The expensive PlayStation 3 box (you can’t call it otherwise…) had been acquired from a local GameStop store.
13- year old Brandon Burns’ first thought when he opened his present and saw nothing but the book was: “dang, those elves jacked my PlayStation. I was more laughing than disappointed.” But his parents plan to pursue action against GameStop in case they are not believed that the PlayStation 3 console was actually missing. “Hopefully, when we go into the store they actually believe that the phone book was in it. That’s what I’m afraid of,” said Nicole Burns, Brandon’s mother.
Two other games were bought along with the console, Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground and Skate, driving the total cost of the… surprising Christmas present to approximately $600.
