The pregnancy pact situation was cleared yesterday when a
pregnant girl from Gloucester
High School said there
was no such pregnancy pact, adding it was just coincidence. Lindsey Oliver appeared on “Good Morning America” and said
that the 17 girls who got pregnant didn’t make a pregnancy pact. The girls were
already pregnant and they decided to help one another with the babies.
“There was definitely no pact. There was a group of girls
already pregnant that decided they were going to help each other to finish
school and raise their kids together. I think it was just a coincidence,” said
Oliver on the show.
Also Mayor Carolyn Kirk said in a press conference, on Monday,
that there was no evidence to support the presumption that there was a pact.
Sue Todd, chief executive of Pathways for Children, who was
reported to have said that a social worker had heard of the pregnancy pact,
said Tuesday that there was no such pact and denied that any of her employers
knew about the plan.
“At no time have I stated to anyone that our social worker
had knowledge of this. I have stated the opposite,” said Todd, according to The
Associated Press.
Oliver, 5 months pregnant, is 17 and her boyfriend Andrew
Psalidas, the father of the child, is 20 years old. He is working and also
going to community college.
It’s been about a week since a pregnancy outburst from Gloucester
High School made headline, causing authorities to wonder if there was a pregnancy
pact involved, as the were not upset when they found out they were expecting.
