Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus is the host for the 10th annual Teen Choice Awards that
will take place at Universal Studios Hollywood's Gibson Amphitheatre in Los
Angeles on Sunday. The show is to be broadcasted Monday at 8 P.M on FOX. Teen
celebrity lovers voted for their favorite stars.
This event
awards young super stars with surfboard trophies for their activities in music,
film, TV, fashion and even sports. Cyrus may also go home with some awards
herself, as she has four nominations (Choice TV Actress: Comedy, Choice TV:
Comedy, Choice Music: Single, and Choice Music: Female Artist).
Justin
Timberlake, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Lil Mama, the Jonas Brothers,
Hayden Panettiere, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, and the
television show "Gossip Girl" are among the favorite nominees.
Timberlake,
the reigning Teen Choice champ who has won 21 surfboards since 1999, has three
more nominations in 2008.
"If we
cannot ring the bell with the teenage audience with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas
Brothers, I'm going to stop producing these shows," said producer Bob Bain
for the NY
Daily News. "This is the best-booked show in teenage television,"
he also added.
Cyrus also
prepared a special dance-off between her and Mandy Jiroux's M&M Cru and ACDC and it was said that
Will Smith would join them as well. She is scheduled to perform her new single
"7 Things" as well. Mariah Carey is also scheduled to give a short
performance with "I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time."
The awards
were selected by more than 30 million voters.
