Quentin Tarantino will reportedly start filming his new movie in October, Reuters reported.
The movie is a World War II action story entitled "Inglorious Bastards," which the well known film director, screenwriter and actor hopes to finish in time for the Cannes Film Festival next May.
The director mostly known for his excellent films such as “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction” has been waiting for a while for this project. The story of “Inglorious Bastards" revolves around a group of soldiers behind enemy lines similar to that previously seen in “The Dirty Dozen.”
The casting hasn’t been made yet, but according to some sources close to the project, Brad Pitt may be among the actors whit whom Tarantino wants to collaborate in this project.
Tarantino, an Academy Award- and Palme d'Or-winning film director, has reportedly purchased the title and remake rights to Enzo Castellari's 1978 film of the same name. However, Tarantino’s screenplay is said to be an original.
The famous film director will team up once again with the Weinstein Co. Tarantino has worked together with Harvey and Bob Weinstein on “Pulp Fiction” and several other projects. Now the Weinstein Co. will co-finance the film, distribute it domestically and manage production and worldwide marketing.
Weinstein Co. will very probably join forces with a major studio to co-finance the project in exchange for foreign rights, especially because the movie will be filmed in Europe and will follow an accelerated production schedule so that it can finish the production in time to submit to May's Festival de Cannes.
