A luxury hotel in Afghanistan was bombed by
terrorists.
Taliban terrorists say that their fighters carried a suicide
bombing, a gun and grenade attack in Hotel Serena located in the heart of Kabul.
The attack occurred early in the evening and ambulances were
rushed at the site, the Press Association reports. No details were released
about the wounded.
According to an American woman who was at the time of the
incident in hotel’s gym, said that after the blast she heard a gunfire. In the
lobby she saw a body and marks from the bullets in the gym area.
The guests were taken to the cellar.
According to Taleban spokesman Zadihullah Mujahid, four of
the terrorists were suicide fighters with grenades, Kalashnikovs and explosives
jackets, BBC said.
Mujahid said one of them detonated the explosive in the
building and the others managed to escaped.
According to some reports, two security guards were killed.
It seems that at the time of the attack a delegation from
the Norwegian embassy along with its ambassador was in the hotel.
Hotel Serena is a luxury hotel known to be used for parties
and meetings by the foreign embassies.
Another American woman, Vanessa Valentino, who is working in
Kabul and was
at the central bank at the time of the incident, said she heard the blast and
gunfire.
At first she heard an explosion, then gunfire and afterwards
another explosion far away followed by a big one nearby.
She said: "I think it shook the building. We're just
not leaving the building, and we can't figure out what's happened, so we
decided to stay inside."
