The motto on Skype’s main page is showing its true meaning today, as the popular Web-application for Internet calls and IM is facing a serious software glitch that hinders millions from logging in.
This morning, my Skype didn’t work. As usual, after I log into my computer at work, a series of programs like Yahoo Messenger, Yoomba or Skype, start automatically. I didn’t give much attention to the fact that Skype failed to log me in and I eventually exited the program after seeing the small rotating lines for about a minute.
Turns out that millions of people experienced the same problem, apparently because of a software glitch.
This is what Skype’s official page has to say about it:
“Some of you may be having problems logging into Skype. Our engineering team has determined that it’s a software issue. We expect this to be resolved within 12 to 24 hours. Meanwhile, you can simply leave your Skype client running and as soon as the issue is resolved, you will be logged in. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Additionally, downloads of Skype have been temporarily disabled. We will make downloads available again as quickly as possible.”
So, keep your fingers crossed and…take a deep breath.
