T-Mobile has sold over 120,000 3G iPhones since Apple
launched the device, on July 11. The report comes from a T-Mobile chief
executive, who confirmed the sales figure to a German weekly magazine, Reuters
reports.
The exec told the German magazine that there have been some supply
problems driven by Apple’s decision to make a simultaneous launch in 22
countries. This meant weeks of waiting for customers eager to get their hands
on the new iPhone.
But despite all shortcomings, T-Mobile’s sales expectations
were surpassed, the exec said. T-Mobile has reportedly sold over 70,000 iPhones
in Germany alone in just 11 weeks of sales.
However, things don’t exactly look very bright for the iPhone and Apple at the moment, considering the increasing number of customer complaints
coming from all over the world, regarding dropped calls and variable Internet
speeds.
Despite Apple’s efforts to solve the problems by releasing a
patch, the customers continue to complain about the dropped calls, and some
even reported new problems on their 3G iPhone that came with this new patch.
It appears that some of T-Mobile’s customers in the
Netherlands and Austria have also been complaining about similar problems,
although no such issues have been reported in Germany up to this point.
Last week, Apple introduced the 3G iPhone to 21 new markets
all over the world, in an attempt meant not only to boost iPhone sales, but
also to show even the most pessimistic analysts that the iPhone is here to stay
and sell big!
Following the iPhone launch, Apple announced incredible
figures for the first weekend, with the one millionth 3G iPhone sold in just three days.
According to the latest predictions, Apple will sell over 5
million iPhones in this quarter. In addition to that, Apple’s third quarter
results were also record-breaking, with Mac sales reaching an all-time high and
revenue going up 38 percent.
