Gary Collins was released from Glendale City Jail early Friday after he served 96 hours for drunken driving in October last year.
“He got out at 6:05 this morning,” Glendale Police Department representative John Balian told E!Online.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Rebecca Omens sentenced him to four days in prison in December last year and she instructed him to surrender by Jan. 10 to start serving his time.
She also ordered Collins to serve four years' probation upon his release, pay a $500 fine, perform 100 hours of community service, enroll in an 18-month alcohol education program and attend 26 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Collins was not charged for the death of the 89-year-old Warren Gates, who was behind the wheel on October 23 when running a red light he struck Collins’ Ford Explorer. While Collins was not at fault for the crash, he failed to pass a sobriety test and was taken into custody, where he was booked on suspicion for driving under the influence and released after posting a $40,000 bail.
The 69-year-old TV personality pleaded no contest to one count each of driving under the influence and driving with blood-alcohol content above .08, the legal limit and was sentenced to four days behind bars.
Gates passed away after the incident, the cause of his death being listed as an October 23 auto accident.
Collins served his time in the same jail where Kiefer Sutherland, 41, is currently serving a 30-day sentence for drunken driving charge plus 18 days for violating probation from a 2004 drunken driving arrest. Sutherland is expected to be released on Monday.
Throughout his career, Collins has made appearances in shows including "JAG," "Yes, Dear" and "The Young and the Restless," and also hosted "Hour Magazine" talk show in the ‘80s.
