Suspect Shot at Georgia Mall

Police in DeKalb County said that they’ve shot a robbery suspect Monday afternoon in a chase which occurred outside a suburban mall.

The suspect was shot many times and he suffered mild injuries according to Mekka Parish, spokeswoman of DeKalb County police, CBS46.com reports.

She said that the unidentified suspect was later arrested at a home near the Gallery at South DeKalb.

According to Parish no one was shot except for the suspect and no shootings occurred inside the mall.

Around 12.30 p.m. a man said to an off-duty officer who was working at the mall that he was robbed.

Police followed the suspect in a parking lot and when the suspect showed a gun an officer fired at him.

Parish said that she wasn’t aware if the suspect fired any shots.

Around 2 p.m. the man was arrested at a home located at 3 or 4 miles away from the mall.

Malls around the country are expected to be crowded today as it is the last day for shopping before Christmas.
