Glenn Selig, a publicist for the former Illinois police sergeant suspected in the disappearance of his wife says the ex-officer is engaged to be married again. The man gained national attention after he was suspected in his third wife's disappearance.
Selig said that the 54-year-old Peterson made this decision to remarry because he wanted to be happy and was trying to move forward with his life. Nevertheless Peterson is still married to Stacy, who was 23 when she disappeared last year.
But his newly found woman of his dreams is 23 as well. They’ve been dating for four months now. Her identity was not revealed. "Yes, Peterson is engaged," said Glenn Selig, Drew Peterson's publicist, who added the proposal occurred "in the past few days." "But we're not saying to whom. He's entitled to his privacy and so is she."
Peterson has two young children, Anthony, 6, and Lacy, 4, with Stacy Peterson. The missing mom's family contends she is dead. "The kids have met her," said Armstrong. "They like her and they know about this engagement."
Illinois state police call Peterson a suspect in the disappearance of his wife but no charges have been filed against the former officer from the Chicago suburb of Bolingbrook. But Selig is of the opinion that Stacy simply left him for another man.
The engagement was first reported in a news release Wednesday morning by Derek Armstrong, the author of a book about Peterson. A spokesman for Stacy's family said he was "speechless" after hearing of the new engagement, according to Fox News. Pamela Bosco, the spokeswoman for Stacy Peterson's family, said that Stacy's family believes Peterson must have an ulterior motive for making his engagement public.
