Former Survivor contestant Denise Martin, who previously
claimed to have been demoted to janitor after the end of the “Survivor: China”
show finally admitted to have lied in her statements.
Martin, who works in an elementary school in Douglas,
confirmed that she hasn’t in fact been demoted, but rather promoted to a
janitorial position, with an even bigger salary: $10-an-hour raise.
School Superintendent Nancy T. Lane confronted Denise Martin
in a CBS show, and the former Survivor contestant had no choice but to admit the
truth: that she has been lying all along.
“It was not my intention to be misleading. Nancy has been
outstanding to me. She has done everything possible. She has given me the leave
of absences to be on the show. I’m sorry
and I apologize to everybody. Believe me, I wish none of this had happened. I couldn’t
say I’m sorry enough,” said Martin during the CBS ”Early Show”.
After telling an emotional story on Sunday about how she
lost her position at the cafeteria and was forced now to work as a night-shift
janitor, host Jeff Probst handed Martin $50,000 at the end of the "Survivor: China" show. The initiative
belonged to producer Mark Burnett, who tried to help the ‘unfortunate’
contestant.
When asked about the $50,000 she received, Martin said (CBS):
“It was not my intention. I had no idea I was going to be rewarded that,” but
avoided to give a straight answer.
Seconds before the end of the show, Martin concluded: “I love
my town. I love my community. Nancy does a great job.”
The former Survivor contestant refused to give any
information on whether she was going to keep the money or not.
