Talent shows have been an attraction for a long time, ever since people started being compensated for their unique skills. As the phenomenon of stardom caught on, it was a matter of time until people started doing whatever they could to get their 15 minutes of fame.

Some of the most successful modern talent shows are, of course, “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance”. They are loosely based on the same concept, thousands of people show up and audition, a select few are chosen and go through intense training to become superstars.

In “American Idol”, a number of 3 or 4 judges – the most direct and ruthless being Brit Simon Cowell – decides whether or not the people who audition have what it takes to become a singing sensation. On “So You Think You Can Dance”, the format is similar, only those who audition have to impress the judges with their dancing skills.

The former producer of American Idol and current producer of So You Think You Can Dance is now behind another similar program, “Superstars of Dance,” which oremiered on January 4th, 2009.

The host is the famous Michael Flatley (“Riverdance,” “Lord of the Dance”) and the co-host is Susie Castillo, Miss USA in 2003. On “Superstars of Dance,” the audience will get to see eight different dance routines, from eight different countries around the world, and the dancers will be judged by an international panel of judges.
