Tucson’s KVOA-TV experienced a glitch during the Super Bowl, showing to all of Comcast’s subscribers a ten-second porn clip during the last few minutes of the sporting event. The interruption occurred just after the last touchdown made by the Arizona Cardinals, who lost the match to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The video featured full-frontal male nudity and caused significant stress for many of the company’s clients, especially for the ones who were watching the show with their kids. As expected, many irritated viewers called to complain and also to demand an explanation.
KVOA explained through a statement that the unwanted clip was received only by Comcast’s subscribers and apologies were addressed to everyone that viewed the video. "KVOA will continue to investigate what happened to our clean signal and make sure our viewers get answers," concluded general manager Gary Nielsen.
Comcast’s spokeswoman Jennifer Khoury stated that the interruption was an isolated malicious act, but the investigation will continue in order to fully understand what caused the incident and to make sure that it will not happen again. The statement also noted that: "We are mortified by last evening’s Super Bowl interruption, and deeply apologize to our customers for the inappropriate programming."
The footage was traced back to Club Jenna, an adult cable TV channel, but for now, there is no official explanation on how it happened.
The Super Bowl is known for taking entertainment to another level, with people everywhere tuning in for the game, the halftime show and also for the commercials.
