Dwyane Wade made his long-awaited season debut, but the Miami Heat couldn’t avoid defeat against the Seattle SuperSonics.
Chris Wilcox led the SuperSonics in scoring with 20 points. Damien Wilkins closely followed with 19 points and rookie sensation Kevin Durant finished with 18 as Seattle won 104-95 over Miami on road to spoil Wade’s return. It was Seattle’s first win in nine games under new coach P.J. Carlesimo.
After six month out of action due to off-season left knee and left shoulder surgeries, Dwyane Wade finally made his appearance and scored 15 points on five-of-nine shooting and snatched three steals in 24 minutes of work off the bench.
"I'm excited I came out of the game healthy and I've got some things I can build on, but as a team it hurts," Wade said. "I did a lot of things I normally do and did not even think about."
With 19 points, Ricky Davis was the one that led the Heat in scoring. Miami (1-7) fell to 0-4 at home for the second time in franchise history and Coach Pat Riley is very frustrated with the current state of affairs.
"We're getting embarrassed. We have to simply come together. We're in the abyss right now. It's not much fun," Riley said.
