Two British soldiers were wounded Friday in Kabul as a suicide attacker drove his explosives-laden vehicle into NATO-led forces, killing himself.
Kabul police said the suicide attacker drove into a convoy of NATO-led forces, destroying the wounded soldiers’ armored vehicle. The area surrounding the eastern part of Afghanistan’s capital was cordoned off by police, Alishah Paktiawal, head of the criminal investigation department of the Kabul police said.
Paktiawal added that the explosion did not hurt any civilians.
A spokesperson for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) confirmed the attack against its troops and specified that two ISAF soldiers suffered minor injuries.
In southern Afghanistan, another suicide bomber blew himself up in a checkpoint, near the Pakistan border, causing the death of Afghan 10 police officers and wounding a dozen others. The attacker walked into a room full of policemen having lunch, said provincial police chief Sayeed Agha Saqib.
In western Afghanistan, a German man and his translator were released by kidnappers, hours after demanding $40,000 for their freedom.
