Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler, 60, checked himself into
the rehab clinic of the Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, California.
Apparently, he requires treatment for an unspecified substance-abuse problem.
The clinic is well known for its reality show “Celebrity
Rehab,” hosted by Doctor David Drew Pinsky.
Some believe that the current substance abuse is closely
related to the singer’s rocky two-year relationship with Erin Brady while
others think that his health problems in recent years may have led to a dependence
on painkillers.
The drama started about two years ago when his wife of 17
years, Teresa, decided to leave the singer for a much younger man. It was then
that Tyler started dating Brady, a 30-something former tour accountant. The
couple have had their share of misunderstandings caused by the different places
they’re in with their lives.
Steven Tyler endured a series of throat surgeries, two foot
surgeries and also 11 months of treatment for his hepatitis C diagnosis. At the
same time, Brady allegedly parties like there is no tomorrow, putting a lot of pressure on
the singer in his attempt to keep up with his significantly younger girlfriend.
Tyler and Aerosmith’s lead guitarist Joe Perry were known in
the 1970s and early 1980s for their drug and alcohol abuse, which led to their
“Toxic Twins” nickname. Tyler managed to successfully overcome his problems and
up to the recent news he had over 20 years of sobriety.
